Service questions / clear answers

Auto glass FAQs for DFW drivers. Know what to expect before you schedule.

Practical answers about windshield repair, auto glass replacement, ADAS recalibration, PDR, headlight restoration, insurance, mobile availability, and preparing a useful quote request.

Before you request a quote

Start with four details.

  • Which glass, panel, or lens is affected
  • What happened and what you can see
  • Your vehicle year, make, and model
  • Your city or ZIP code

01

Windshield repair

Can a windshield always be repaired instead of replaced?

No. The size, depth, location, contamination, and spread of the damage all matter. We inspect the glass before recommending repair or replacement.

What does windshield repair do?

For qualifying damage, professional repair places resin into the break, cures it, and checks the result. The goal is to stabilize the damage; some evidence of the original impact may remain.

Should I wait to have a chip evaluated?

Waiting can allow moisture, contamination, temperature changes, and normal vehicle movement to affect the damage. A prompt assessment preserves more options, but repair eligibility still depends on the actual glass.

Can a repaired chip disappear completely?

No universal cosmetic result can be promised. A qualifying repair is intended to stabilize the damage and may improve its appearance, but some visible evidence can remain.

02

Auto glass replacement

What kinds of auto glass do you replace?

We replace windshields, side-door glass, quarter glass, rear glass, and qualifying automotive mirror glass.

When might a windshield need to be replaced?

Replacement may be the better path when damage is too large, deep, contaminated, spreading, or poorly located for a dependable repair. The glass and vehicle details need to be assessed before a recommendation is made.

What if my windshield has a camera?

Tell us about any lane-assist camera, rain sensor, heads-up display, or other equipment near the windshield. We will flag calibration or part considerations during the quote process.

How is the correct replacement glass identified?

The year, make, model, body style, trim, visible equipment, and glass options can all matter. Cameras, sensors, heads-up display areas, antennas, heating, tint, and moldings may change the correct part.

03

ADAS recalibration

What is ADAS camera recalibration?

It is the vehicle-specific procedure used to align or verify a forward-facing driver-assistance camera after work that may affect its view or position.

Does every windshield replacement require recalibration?

No. The vehicle, camera system, windshield configuration, and OEM procedure determine whether recalibration is required and which method applies.

What is the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static calibration generally uses targets and controlled measurements while the vehicle is stationary. Dynamic calibration generally follows a prescribed road drive. Some vehicles require one method, both, or additional steps.

What information helps with an ADAS quote?

Share the year, make, model, VIN when requested, windshield work, visible camera housing, warning messages, and service location.

Paintless dent repair

What damage can Paintless Dent Repair address?

PDR may be appropriate for door dings, minor creases, and hail damage when panel access, metal condition, and paint condition allow it.

Does PDR work on every dent?

No. Sharp impacts, stretched metal, inaccessible areas, cracked paint, and previous body repairs can make a different repair approach more appropriate.

Does PDR preserve the original paint?

PDR is designed to reshape qualifying metal without the filler, sanding, and repainting used in traditional body repair. The existing paint must be evaluated first because chips, cracks, or previous repairs can change the recommendation.

How do you decide whether a dent qualifies for PDR?

The dent location, depth and shape, access behind the panel, panel material, paint condition, and any prior repairs all matter. Start with a description; Auto Glass General will guide you on useful photo angles after you connect.

Headlight restoration

What does headlight restoration remove?

The service addresses exterior haze, yellowing, and surface oxidation on polycarbonate lenses. It does not repair bulbs, wiring, cracked housings, broken tabs, or interior moisture.

Will headlight restoration make every lens look new?

No universal result can be promised. Lens condition, prior damage, and the source of cloudiness all affect what restoration can achieve.

What causes cloudy or yellow headlights?

UV exposure, weather, and road conditions can wear the exterior surface of a polycarbonate lens over time. An inspection helps confirm whether the cloudiness is exterior oxidation or a problem inside the housing.

How long does headlight restoration last?

There is no single lifespan that applies to every vehicle. Sun exposure, driving conditions, lens condition, care, and prior damage can all affect how the finish ages. The service includes a protective finish to help slow renewed UV oxidation.

06

Mobile auto glass availability

Where can mobile auto glass service be completed?

A suitable home, workplace, or fleet location may work when there is safe, level, accessible parking and appropriate weather and installation conditions.

Does mobile service change the installation process?

The location changes, but vehicle identification, glass confirmation, preparation, handling, installation, and aftercare requirements still apply.

What should I prepare before a mobile appointment?

Provide complete vehicle and glass details, clear space around the vehicle, identify any cameras or sensors, and follow the location and weather guidance confirmed with your appointment.

Can every auto glass job be mobile?

No. Weather, damage, vehicle systems, calibration requirements, access, and safety conditions can make another service setting more appropriate.

Quotes and service area

What information do I need for a quote?

Have the service type, affected glass, panel, or lens, vehicle year, make and model, city or ZIP code, preferred timing, contact details, insurance intent, and a clear damage description ready.

Does the website send my quote request automatically?

Yes. After the form validates your details, it securely delivers the request to Auto Glass General by email. You will see a confirmation on the page when delivery succeeds. Sending a request does not reserve an appointment.

Can I upload photos of the damage?

The website does not upload or store photos. After you connect, Auto Glass General can explain which photos and angles will be useful and how to share them directly.

Can I request a preferred appointment time?

Yes. Add your preferred timing to the quote request. It is a scheduling preference, not a confirmed appointment; availability and the service location are confirmed when Auto Glass General responds.

Where do you provide service?

Auto Glass General is based in Hurst and reviews requests across all 239 incorporated communities in the 16-county DFW and surrounding North Texas region. The appropriate working location is confirmed with your quote; mobile auto glass may be available when the job, weather, access, and safety conditions are suitable.

08

Insurance and warranty

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept all insurance. Your policy and carrier determine whether a service is covered, what deductible applies, and which authorizations are required.

Does accepting my insurance mean the work is covered?

Not necessarily. Acceptance and coverage are different. Your carrier and policy determine coverage, deductible, and authorization requirements, so those details need to be confirmed before work begins.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

Repair and replacement coverage differ. If an eligible chip repair does not stop the break, the repair cost may be credited toward a windshield installed by Auto Glass General. Qualifying replacement workmanship is covered against air or water leaks, defective materials, and workmanship while you own the vehicle. Complete written terms, exclusions, non-transferability, and rust-related limits apply.

Should I enter my policy number or VIN on the quote form?

No. Do not enter a policy number, VIN, payment information, or other sensitive information on the website. Share only the basic contact, vehicle, location, and damage details needed to begin the conversation.
